What to do in Cusco? Ruins and Museums

What can we visit in Cusco? ¿Do I need a tourguide? ¿Do I have to buy the Turistic Ticket? ¿How is that?
Cusco is not only Machu Picchu. This City is surrounded by Ruins and Museums, plus the breath taking landscapes and aventure activities.

But you must know that to be able to enter these ruins and museums you will need the "Turistic Ticket of Cusco". But don't worries. You can buy that in Cusco and I explain the types of tickets below.

Basically it's a ticket that allows access to "all attractions". Something like buying the entrance for Disneyland. And if you just want to visit a single attraction, you must still pay the full ticket.

There's only 4 types of tickets:

Boleto Turístico Integral
(Full Turistic Ticket)

(This ticket gives you access to the 16 turistic points in Cusco)

¿How to get to the ruins or museums?

Most museums are located in the same city of Cusco so it will not be difficult to reach. A taxi will not cost more than 3 dollars and in some cases you can by foot. However, the ruins are not so close and you will need a guide. The good news is that in the streets or avenues that surround the main square you will find many tourist agencies that will offer you the transfer and guide to those destinations (average tour prices are 8-10 dollars)

The nearest ruin to the city of Cusco is Sacsayhuaman and you can reach it by taxi (3 dollars), you can have freedom to see everything in time and observe free llamas around the place.

¿Where to buy the Turistic Ticket?

  • At the entry of the ruins (more easy)
  • Principal Office COSITUC: Galerías Turísticas, Av. Sol N° 103 (Lunes a Viernes 8 am a 5:30 pm y sábado de 8:30 am a 12:30 pm).
  • OFEC: Calle Garcilaso s/n (Lunes a Sábado 8 am a 5 pm y Domingo 8 am a 8pm).

Don't forget:

-Wearing comfortable shoes
-Bring water
